What is a Blessingway?

A Blessingway is a special pre-birth ceremony that has traditionally been performed by Navajo people, and celebrates a woman’s rite of passage into motherhood. This ceremony is gaining popularity in North America. Unlike a traditional baby shower where the focus is on gifts, a Blessingway puts the focus back on nurturing the woman. A woman’s closest friends and family gather in love to build up her mind, body, and soul in preparation for her journey to motherhood. It is intended that the mother-to-be leaves bursting full of love, strength, confidence, and belief in the ability of her body to birth her baby. Source.

We love the idea of spending a few hours preparing for motherhood and honoring the mother and all that is to come. We are thrilled to be offering a Community Blessingway at our shop in Oak Park and are co hosting the event with Serenity Acupuncture and Creating Balance Wellness.

Join other local mothers-to-be for a morning of pampering that includes flower crowns, henna belly tattoo, prenatal massage, meditation, foot baths and nourishing snacks. Ideal for moms in the 2nd or 3rd trimester.
